Our BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal)

highly resistant varieties. We will have one seed variety breeding laboratory at G0 stage,
supplying three high-tech mega-greenhouses, each with a production capacity of 500,000
pcs per season, in Northern (Gicumbi), Southern (Nyamagabe) and Eastern (Rwamagana)
provinces, one in each.
Bountiful Farmers Today
- Currently the potato seed production value chain consists of 6 stages from (G0) to (G5)
- At the moment, Bountiful Farmers only operates at the second stage, (G1)
- With two greenhouses in operations, our current production capacity per season is 103,000pcs of Minitubers.
- We employ four permanent employees. An operations manager, a quality control specialist, two greenhouse managers. We’ve also given work to 30 seasonal workers.
- We have secured strong partnerships with the University of Technology and Arts of Byumba (UTAB) from a production point, and One Acre Fund as our main client.
Bountiful Farmers in 2027
- By 2027, Bountiful farmers aims to vertically expand operations to include Stage 1 (G0). This means that we will add a laboratory to produce in vitro plantlets.
- The company will also Increase production to 500,000 pcs per year, per megagreenhouse.
Why this BHAG?
By owning two stages of the potato seeds production value chain, i.e, G0 and G1, we will be able
to:
- Have control over the quality of our plantlets straight from our own lab
- Test out new seed varieties
- Ensure production consistency by removing the G0 supply to G1 producers lead time
- Reduce the minitubers (G1) production period from 5 months to 2 months.
